I built success the way I was taught to and everything still fell apart.
There was a time when I was doing everything “right”…building the career, showing up, performing at a high level. Yet I still found myself questioning if it was actually mine.
I knew how to succeed on paper, but I was still learning how to trust myself in the process.
My career taught me how to lead in complex environments by navigating high expectations, cross-functional teams, and spaces where influence mattered more than title. I learned how to communicate, how to build trust, and how to drive results.
But the moment everything changed didn’t come from a promotion. It came from an opportunity.
At the end of 2023, I was asked, (on less than 24 hours’ notice), to create and deliver a work-life balance workshop for my team.
So I did. And it worked.
Not only did it resonate, it landed. So much so that I was asked to present that same workshop in front of the entire company at our Half Business Review meeting in Aruba the following January.
Here’s what made that moment different: I was the only person presenting who wasn’t director-level or above. Still, the workshop didn’t just hold its own. It stood out. The response was overwhelming. The feedback, consistent.
On the flight home, somewhere between reflection and clarity, I knew: This is what I’m meant to do. That moment wasn’t about validation. It was about recognition. Recognition of a gift I had been using, but not fully claiming.
And then life tested that decision.
In April of that same year, my father was diagnosed with stage 2 stomach cancer. As I tried to step away from work to be with him, I was laid off from my role one month later. Just like that.
Everything I had built in my career shifted in the blink of an eye. But this time, it felt different because instead of asking, “What now?” I already had my answer.
I wasn’t going back to corporate as an employee. I was stepping forward, but as my own leader. Building something that was mine. Using my voice, my experience, and my perspective to create real impact.
Learning to build on my own terms was the lesson.
That decision wasn’t rooted in comfort. It was rooted in truth. All due to the lived experience of:
Leading without always having the title
Navigating environments that challenge your confidence
Balancing performance with personal identity
And rebuilding after being forced to start over
I don’t just speak about mindset, leadership, and resiliance because they are decision maker buzz words. I’ve had to live it
Today, I work with organizations, students, and leaders to help them think differently, lead intentionally, and move with clarity.
My work sits at the intersection of mindset, leadership, and human connection because real growth doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens when people understand themselves, their environments, and how they show up in both.
Whether I’m on a stage, in a workshop, or working with a team, my goal is the same: To create a space where people see themselves clearly and leave ready to move differently. This isn’t about having it all figured out. It’s about making the decision to trust yourself, especially when it matters most.
Because when you do that… You don’t just change your path.
You step into your power.
